Want to get creative, meet new people, and do something that actually makes a difference? Join Make, DO Theatre and Newground Together as we build a stunning, large-scale Seascape installation from recycled fishing nets and plastic waste – turning trash into art and discussing what we can do in Calderdale about plastic pollution and climate change. Absolutely no experience necessary, and open to anyone over the age of 18.
At this workshops, you’ll:
- Get hands-on with sustainable art: crafting sea creatures, ocean-inspired designs, or campaign messages to attach to our net
- Learn techniques like making cordage from old fabric or plastic bags
- Learn how to tackle the climate emergency on a local level, including writing to your MP
- Find out about other opportunities in your area
- Work with local artists, puppeteers and crafters
- Become an artist!
By adding your own creative touch to the net, you’ll become a touring artist! Your work will travel across West Yorkshire, showcased in community and cultural spaces—before taking center stage in our next theatre production!
Please email emily@makedotheatre.com to book your space.
The event will take place at Newground Together, The Hub @ Bull Green, Halifax HX1 2EB
