About CultureDale

We know one of Calderdale’s strengths is the wonderful people who live and work here and that’s why we want you to join our team and make 2024 a year to remember.

We are looking for passionate and dedicated volunteers to help us welcome visitors at CultureDale events, as well as share information and help get people involved in ongoing events and projects throughout the Year of Culture.

Volunteer Roles

We are looking for people to join our team as Access Champions, Ambassadors, Event Makers and Workshop Assistants.

Access Champions

Access Champions will provide a warm welcome and support for disabled people and their families and carers at our larger events. You will be a point of contact for people arriving at events and will help by sharing event schedules and information, directing people to quiet spaces or changing spaces.

Event Makers

Event makers will act as stewards at our events, this role could involve directing people, assisting with queues, checking tickets or registration, giving out event information, taking photos, helping with set up and pack down of events.

Workshop Volunteers

Workshop volunteers will support the delivery of creative workshops for people of all ages. This could involve helping to set up materials, welcoming people and signing them in, supporting participants to get involved during a workshop, taking photos and asking evaluation questions. This role could involve working with children and vulnerable adults so this role will require a DBS check.

CultureDale Ambassadors

CultureDale Ambassadors will promote CultureDale opportunities in their local area. This could involve putting up posters, flyers, speaking to local groups and businesses in the run up to large events.

What experience or skills do CultureDale Volunteers need?

No previous events experience is required as we will provide training, but if you have skills that you think will be useful, please let us know when you apply.

Who will I volunteer with?

You will have a named staff contact who will supervise you when you are volunteering. You will be volunteering alongside CultureDale staff and other volunteers.

How much time will I be expected to give?

The amount of time you give will depend on your role at the event you are volunteering for. This could be from 2 – 4 hours depending on your availability.

Volunteers who attend all day events will be provided with breaks, food, and out-of-pocket expenses.
