Northern Broadsides are inviting people from Calderdale to join workshops in poetry and acting as part of their community project, Iron People, inspired by Ted Hughes’ The Iron Man and The Iron Woman stories.

The Iron People project is a CultureDale key commission, forming part of Calderdale's 2024 Year of Culture, enabling residents across Calderdale to take part and build skills in writing, acting, movement, puppetry, illustration and performance.

So far, three Pay What You Decide Poetry Workshops have been announced for the coming year across Calderdale, all led by Ian Humphreys.

The second workshop is Ted Hughes, Eco-poet, where attendees will look at poems by Ted Hughes that mark him out as an eco-poet ahead of his time, and use his words to inspire the writing of new eco-poems of their own.
