An illustrated artist’s talk on making art for the stage, by the designer of 'The Man Who Planted Trees', Alison Duddle.

Alison is a visual artist, puppet and mask designer and maker and visual theatre director. She initially developed her passion for puppet and mask theatre through working with and learning from artists at In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre in Minneapolis, MN USA, and then continued this in the UK, working for 17 years a maker and joint artistic director with Horse + Bamboo Theatre. Alison formed A BIRD IN THE HAND THEATRE with performer Mark Whitaker in 2017.

Alison will speak about working at the intersection of visual arts and theatre, and the process she goes through when designing and making art for the stage, and how she approached Hebden Bridge Arts' upcoming 'The Man Who Planted Trees' magical production, which is on at Hebden Bridge Little Theatre from 11-14 July.

After the talk there will be a chance for audience members to ask questions.

Tickets include a soft or alcoholic drink on entry. Doors to the Space (first floor) open at 8pm and drinks will be served in the Space prior to the event, which begins at 8.30pm.
