This event takes place at Bankfield Museum
Join us on Jane Austen’s 250th birthday for a talk with Collections and Exhibitions Manager, Rachel Terry.
What do we find out about fashion when we take a specific look into the writings of Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters? Looking at evidence from both the novels and the letters of these four writers reveals more than we might expect about fashion and its social customs for women and men in the early 19th century.
It's also the last week of our exhibition on film and tv costumes, Costume Drama, where you can see the costumes from To Walk Invisible (2016), Pride and Prejudice (1995) and Emma (2020) so why not combine the talk with a visit to our exhibition?
Tickets are £12, book online via the link below.
