About this event
To mark International Women’s Day and the launch of Central Library’s exhibition of a new community tapestry, Halifax’s Woven Warriors are putting on an event all about the power of bringing women together.
Join us for an inspiring afternoon, featuring some of West Yorkshire’s most remarkable women. Alongside the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire, a panel of leaders from charity, business, and politics will share their stories of resilience and collaboration, exploring the connections that unite women and the communities they build.
With lots of opportunity to join the conversation with our friendly panel, learn from their diverse experiences and ask questions, come along as we discuss how women are stronger when we weave our stories together.
A little story about the Woven Warriors:
Woven Warriors is a unique community tapestry and audio project, showcasing the weaving and stories of outstanding female leaders from Calderdale. Inspired by Halifax’s Doreen Pickles, a pioneering mill worker and one of the UK's first female shop stewards, this tapestry features contributions from educators, a former MP, CEOs, musicians, artists, and award-winning community workers. Our aim is to inspire future generations while celebrating our rich heritage of industry and creativity.
