March 19, 2026
TIME:
14:00 - 16:00

David Glover presents the story of a very old house, and its varied residents.

Our Grade II* listed historic Hall at Shibden dates from 1420/1 and parts have been extensively remodeled from its original design by generations of residents. From the disputes between the Oates and Savile family in the late 15th Century, through the thriving Waterhouse years, and on to the fascinating diversity of the Listers, you will hear about farmers and textile people, the remarkable diarist Anne and finally, antiquarian John. Learn what crisis happened in 1925/6.
