Folklore Centre artist-in-residence David Chatton Barker unveils a new folkloric map and a series of beer mats (leading to buried treasure!) featuring nine sites in West Calderdale, steeped in local lore and legend...
Join us on Friday 9th May to celebrate the launch of David Chatton Barker's folkloric map and beer mat series, which feature his artistic interpretations of nine local tales and their associated sites in and around Todmorden.
Completed as part of his residency with the Folklore Centre, the map will be permanently housed at the centre, while smaller versions will be available for people to take away. In addition, David will launch his collectable beer mat series which together form GPS coordinates that lead to a buried prize!
David will be talking about his residency and the work he has produced in what promises to be a magical evening, illuminating the special sites and stories of Todmorden.
This launch will include:
- Artist talk & discussion
- Free A2 map & beer mats
- Live Music
Taking place at The Folklore Centre, Todmorden (OL14 5BB) on Friday 9th May from 6-8pm.
