Description:
Welland Festival is an arts for wellbeing celebration in Elland.
This one-day festival focuses on connection, expression, and shared experiences through creativity. It’s an opportunity for everyone to enjoy creative health experiences, with a focus on boosting belonging and togetherness.
Come along during the day to explore a whole array of creative wellbeing activities, including art and craft making, African drumming, Indian dance, a Come and Play workshop with Elland Silver Band, and performances from local choirs and dancers. There’ll also be food and time to connect and find out about activities you can get involved in all year round.
During the evening Welland will present a series of special performances from people across the borough, including Annapurna Indian Dance, Elland Silver Band’s Community Band, local writers, and the debut performance of Curious Motion’s new inclusive performance company. The performance company brings together non-professional and professional dancers from the Elland area to reimagine ‘This Here Land’, a dance piece first created in 2023 that celebrates rich local stories and heritage. The company started working together in July this year and are very excited to share their work with you at Welland!
Welland has a strong focus on access and is open to everyone. Drop-in anytime between 10:00 and 16:00 to enjoy activities and workshops (check the programme for workshop times). If you plan to come to the evening portion of the event, please book a ticket.
