Outside Halifax Central Library, West Yorkshire, HX1 1QG
Sunday 20th September 2026
Halifax Heritage Tours CIC are passionate about the heritage of women who've lived and worked in and around Halifax. We've been exploring local female connections to Halifax, women of purpose who's drive to personally achieve, provide or represent others has led us to refer to them as heroines.
On our guided tour, you'll hear real stories that celebrate strong role models; from the first female solo air balloonist, a master sculptor, diarists, property owners and trailblazing women MPs. Various tales of the women who shaped the history of Halifax and in many instances further afield too, as they nurtured philanthropy, promoted the wellbeing of residents and workers and those who advocated for women’s and civil rights.
Starting outside Halifax Central Library, our tour guide has so much to share; we look forward to offering an insight into the lives and drive of many amazing women to whom Halifax owes so much.
We'll finish the tour at the Top O' Town, not for from Harvey's of Halifax - where you may wish to visit for refreshments after the tour.
