Agenda for the Evening

💡Opening Introduction: Hebden Bridge Film Festival (15 mins)

We’ll begin the evening with a short introduction from the team at Hebden Bridge Film Festival, who will share highlights from this year’s programme and ways to get involved.

This is a great opportunity to hear directly from one of the region’s most established film platforms and connect festival culture with our growing screen community.

🎬 Guest Speaker: Christian Krupa (45–60 mins)

Christian Krupa is an award-winning animator and filmmaker whose work spans BBC, Netflix, BFI-backed projects, VR and live visuals.

In this session, Christian will share the evolving process behind his current cross-media project, which began with photographs from his grandfather’s wartime and post-war life and has expanded into writing, film and analogue electronic sound.

Through visual material and discussion, he will explore:

  • Storytelling through fragments and archives
  • Memory and displacement as creative drivers
  • Working across image and experimental sound
  • Embracing curiosity and process-led practice

This session offers insight into how personal history can evolve into powerful creative work.

🎥 Workshop: Anthony Croft (40–45 mins)

Anthony Croft is an award-winning Sound Designer, Dialogue Editor and Re-Recording Mixer with over two decades of experience in high-end television and long-form production.

Drawing on iconic WWII films, Anthony will explore how silence, repetition and sonic perspective shape tension, memory and emotion on screen.

In this session, Anthony will cover:

  • How sound influences emotional storytelling
  • The power of silence and restraint
  • Thinking about sound earlier in development
  • Practical tools for filmmakers and creatives

No technical background required — this session is designed to shift how you think about sound in your own projects.

💬 Q&A with Christian Krupa and Ant Croft

Following the talks and workshop, Christian and Ant will join us for a live Q&A session, giving you the opportunity to dive deeper into their creative processes.

This is your chance to ask about working with archives, developing cross-media projects, approaching sound as a storytelling tool, and thinking about experimentation earlier in your productions.

Whether you’re a filmmaker, animator, sound designer or simply curious about how story and sound intersect, this conversation will open up practical insights and new ways of thinking.

🤝Networking Opportunities

As always, there'll be plenty of time to connect with fellow filmmakers, creatives and industry professionals throughout the evening.
